A number of high-ranking government officials and First Lady Callista Mutharika, some of his children and some relations of the president are camped at the hospital.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Mutharika is in the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU).

According to a source who was around the hospital's premises, Mutharika arrived at the hospital in an ambulance registration MG 948 AB at around 11:35am.
