Reports of mortality because of drinking beer and other forms of liquor on empty stomach in some parts of the country including the Northern Region are a source of worry because such deaths are preventable.  Much as it is not possible to stop some people from drinking, we believe that those who like consuming alcoholic drinks can easily plan to have food to avoid the consequences of boozing on empty stomachs.

As reported in our lead story, some banks have already taken cautions steps to cushion themselves against the effects of yet-to-be debated and passed Pension Bill. Like most employees who are against the draconian provisions of the Pension Bill, the banks have also decided to react to the development. What this entails is that Malawians have already started feeling the excruciating pinch of the callous provisions of the Pension Bill before it is debated, passed and finally endorsed by the State President.
