EsauThe Flames have maintained position 82 on the Coca Cola Fifa ranking for the month of March which was released Wednesday.

The Flames also still pause on position 17 on the continent led by Egypt who took over the position from Cameroon after winning the African Cup of Nations in January.

However, most Africans top teams have dropped on the world ranking which is still led by Spain ahead of Brazil (2nd) and the Netherlands (3rd) and Italy (4th), due to inactivity in the just ended month.

The Pharaohs hav, however, dropped on world ranking from position ten to 17 while Nigeria though also still on position three in Africa have also been pushed from position 15  to 21 on the world.

However, Cameroon who are second in Africa, have maintained 20 position on the world ranking.

Malawi’s opponents in the 2012 African Cup of Nations group 11, Tunisia are on position 55 in the world and 10 in Africa.

The other group members Botswana are 119th in the world and on position 33 in Africa while Chad are 144th on the world and 38th on the continent.

The rankings were released before the international friendly games played Wednesday, on  Fifa day.

The Flames have been inactive since they returned from the Angola African Cup of Nations.

On Wednesday the Flames team made up of local based players lost 1-2 to Zimbabwe's Warriors at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Zimbabwe's Warriors came from behind to win the match after Malawi took the lead through diminutive forward Noel Mkandawire.

According to media reports in Zimbabwe, the Flames conceded an own goal through Robson Banda before the Warriors scored the second through Tafadzwa Rusike.

Coach Kinnah Phiri said the Flames played well and were denied a clear goal towards the end of the first half when Grey Nyirenda's goal was disallowed for offside.

The Flames face Mozambique Mambas on March 12 at Kamuzu Stadium before playing the return leg in Maputo two weeks later.
