British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s special advisor on peace building, Jack McConnel, met President Bingu wa Mutharika in his capacity as African Union chairman at the New State House in Lilongwe where they discussed security and development issues on the continent. Briefing the press after the meeting, McConnel said he was sent by Brown to meet Mutharika and discuss with him his agenda on peace and security as AU chairman as well as Britain ’s security concerns in Africa .
